Lumi's Note: Welcome, welcome! This is my reboot of an old CYOA I wrote ~2 years ago. You can find it by clicking here, or just ignore that old link and keep reading below. This was originally a sequel, but I'm going to restart it and disregard the first one because it was really shitty and confusing. (I love the sequel a million times more. ♥ ) It was originally based off of the Animal Crossing series, but I'm doing my best to remove all the video-game only references so that it can be an actual story. Hopefully, you guys enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy the blast from the past. Now, without further ado, I welcome you all to read the prologue.
The light summer breeze brushes against my arms as I walk towards the place where I will be staying. Naturally, I chose to arrive at night because I always enjoyed the night time, especially the nights when I would be arriving in a new town for a new assignment. This time, it was Solstice. If I was lucky, I won't have to spend much time here as I had to in the last town.
I like to think of myself as fortunate. If I had refused to accept this job, I would have been sent straight to the ADA for murder on that fateful night. Nowadays, my job is simply to go to whatever town the client needs me to and stalk the person they request me to. After I have gathered enough information, I am requested to murder that person and hide the evidence. Over the past two years, I had grown very talented at this job.
This time, my task is different. My client has not only requested me to kill someone but to kill someone very important, the mayor. They claim this mayor is too young and immature to run the town. I must be the one to rid the town of this nuisance. And the reward? One million dollars. Considering how much my other clients paid, I'd say this might be worth it.
I eventually reach a run-down hotel at the edge of town. I knock lightly on the door before someone comes up to open it. "Hello, you must be Scarlett. Are you here to check in?" Of course, I am here to check in. Why else would I be here?
"Yes, is there a room ready for me?"
Handing me the key, she says, "Down the hallway and first one on the left. Enjoy."
"Thank you. Do you know of any places of interest around town?"
"Well, with the festival just around the corner, there is not much going on here. You could go sightseeing. I hear that town hall will be open tomorrow to allow residents and visitors alike to see how the mayor works on a day-to-day basis."
"Interesting. I will check it out. And your name is?"
"My name is Phoebe and I run this hotel."
"Well, Phoebe, thank you very much." I pass by her little kiosk and walk quickly towards where the rooms are. I hope the room is not as run-down as this lobby is. It's as if the owners of this hotel do not care at all, as long as people keep checking in and checking out. Sighing, I turn the key into the lock and slowly push the door open.
Inside, I am not surprised. There is only a minimalist style bed, side table, and dresser. I set my bag on top of the bed and run my hands through my hair. I guess it's up to me to make this work. My hands rummage through my bag, pulling out the various clothes I had brought with me. I neatly put the clothes in the dresser and pull out the other stuff I had brought with me. Besides clothes, I had brought a pocket knife, two axes, a file explaining my mission, and my messenger.
When I was first hired, my employer had given me a messenger. She said that I would be able to contact her from anywhere at any time. I place the pocket knife in my pocket, put an axe inside my purse, while stashing the extra one inside the side table, place the messenger on the side table, just in case, and open the file to once again re-read the message.
"On June 9th, 2013, Chris became the mayor of Solstice. Chris has only been the mayor for 6 months, and already, the citizens are complaining. Amongst the various rumors flying around about him, Chris is said to be working with co-conspirators in order to run a secret underground business. Chris and supposed members of the group have been seen making multiple trips to stores to sell unknown items to different shop owners. Some villagers oftentimes go missing after visiting town hall, and many believe that it is because Chris pushes them off a cliff at nighttime. The next day, a new villager pops up to replace the missing one and all is forgotten.
In conclusion, Chris is not fit to be a mayor. He must be eliminated."

What a poor town. This mayor must have ignored the needs of this village for far too long to incite such hate. Maybe this hotel, which dearly requires some work, is due to a lack of mayoral responsibility around here. But not for long. Once I'm done here, this town will be cured.
